An epidemic of Covid-19 and other respiratory conditions, which have already caused the death of more than 200 people this year, caused the Honduras government to repay the wearing of protective masks and send employees to work from home on Thursday and Friday, AFP, quoted by Agerpres.
“It has been decided that all central government agencies and decentralized institutions (…) pass on Telemunca Thursday and Friday,” the Ministry of Interior of Honduras said in a statement.
He stressed that this is the “recommendations of the Ministry of Health” as a result of “accelerated and sustained growth of very contagious respiratory diseases” such as “Covid-19, syncytial respiratory virus, influenza”.
In an own statement, the Ministry of Health has stated the wearing of the protection mask in airports, border points, cinemas, sports halls, shopping centers, supermarkets, churches, care centers, educational centers and “all places where it is not possible to keep a physical distance”.
Lorenzo Pavon, responsible for epidemiological supervision within the Ministry of Health, told the local press that 216 people have died since the beginning of respiratory infections, five of them due to Covid-19, a “really considerable mortality”.
The government recommended the population to wear masks again, to wash their hands frequently, to use disinfectants and to “avoid people in closed spaces”, as during the 2020 and 2021 coronavirus pandemic.
