Business in the country are promoted on the websites of several diplomatic missions of Romania, with advertisements that vary from hair implants to natural treatments, according to an investigation by Free Europe.

Embassies and consulates are the essential pillars of Romania's foreign policy, with a crucial role in the country's economic promotion. Only, in some cases, the economic information posted on the official web pages of the diplomatic missions have not been updated for years or are completely missing, writes Free Europe.

An example is the page of the Romanian Consulate in Bonn. In the section “Economic promotion/promotion of Romanian exports in Germany”, there are references to several programs under the administration of the resort ministries. In fact, the suggested links redirect to sites that promote natural treatments for intestinal worms or hair implant services.

The link attached to the program to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the development of export, administered by the Ministry of Economy-www.mimmc.ro/-is now the site of a natural magazine named Mim.

The first article when opening the page is about “natural treatments for children: how to treat the intestinal worms with gentleness”.

Until 2011, at the same address – www.mimmc.ro, the official page of the Ministry for Small and Medium Enterprises, which no longer exists since 2009, notes.

Another case presented is that of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau, which has unacceptable information from 2012 and which refers to non-functional sites for years.

The situation in important countries

The problem of updating information is also extending to diplomatic missions in important countries. For example, on the website of the Romanian Embassy in Paris, the information on economic opportunities is not updated since 2019.

Romania also has a consulate in Strasbourg, which promotes on the official page the hair implants and natural treatments, writes Free Europe.

On the website of the Romanian Embassy in Washington, the last update of information from the section “Promoting Romanian exports in the US” is from January 6, 2021, and the business guide in the US is 2016.

The website of the Romanian Embassy in Argentina does not have, in the “Economic Promotion” section, updated information. And here there are references to the hair transplant and the natural magazine.
