CSM Focșani 2007 announced the withdrawal from season 2025/2026 of the first men's handball league. The junior and youth teams of the Vrâncean club will also disappear.

In the first men's handball league there are only 11 bands: CS Dinamo, HC Buzău, CSM Sighișoara, Potaissa Turda, CSU from Suceava, Minaur Baia Mare, CSM Vaslui, Politehnica Timișoara, Cluj University, CSM Bucharest and CSM Constanța.
CSM Focșani disappears from handball
“In view of the decision of the members of the Directory Committee of CSM Focșani 2007 taken at the meeting on 22.07.2025, we inform you that, due to the financial difficulties that the club is facing, the Senior Handball team does not register in the Zimbrilor League Championship 2025/2026.
Also, we inform you that even the Junior and Youth Handball teams will not be included in the Competition Championship 2025/2026 ”, it is shown in the letter sent by Nicuță Oprea, the director of CSM Focșani, to FRH.
The end was announced
Since the end of May 2025, Cristi Valentin Misăilă, the mayor of Focșani, announced the disaster for local sport.
I have already made the decision in the Committee of CSM Focșani 2007 as all team sports, I mean here handball, basketball, football and volleyball, not to register in the competition year 2025-2026, for very clear reasons, lack of funding. 7 months ago, at the end of the previous year, the goalkeeper of the CSM Focșani handball team, from the first league, Emilian Morocoico, launched a cry of despair against the leadership, accusing that he and his teammates had not been paid for 9 months.
Last days, Morocoico again shouted frustration in a dialogue with gsp.ro:
Yes, we are in an extremely serious, more difficult situation than before. Because no one listens to us, they don't notice us. Not only is it 5 months since we did not receive our salaries, but we do not know if the team is registered or not in the championship.
We have no coaches, they are not paid from October-November 2024. We have no manager, we stay on the halls at the town hall to find out what is happening, but nothing is told. It's like nobody! There are some political struggles here, but we don't have to do it. But we suffer.
Instead, we came to negotiate the contracts. But they want the last. What do you mean, to give up the salaries I worked?! That can't be that! If they want to renegotiate from now on, we understand, but not and why we have already played. We have a director, Nicuță Oprea, who lies and leads us, or avoids us. The money had come from the town hall, but he was waiting for directives, to know what to do with them
