Cristian Popescu Piedone was placed under judicial control by DNA prosecutors, with the prohibition to exercise their position at the management of ANPC, judicial sources told HotNews.

The ANPC president is appointed and revoked by the prime minister. Asked by the reporter Hotnews if Ilie Bolojan will revoke Piedone, the government spokesman, Ioana Dogioiu, said:

“This government and Prime Minister Bolojan are absolutely dedicated to the idea of anti-corruption and integrity. No person who can fulfill their function and does not fulfill the conditions for its fulfillment will remain in the position. As regards the case mentioned by you, you will see what the actions of the prosecutors will be, the case will be analyzed and the prime minister will make a decision.”

DNA prosecutors were searched on Tuesday morning at addresses in Ilfov and Prahova, including at the House of the ANPC chief, Cristian Popescu Piedone. He was lifted with a mandate from a residential complex in Mamaia Nord, where he was staying, and taken to home to attend the pequesions. Later, he was taken to the DNA headquarters for hearings. The searches also took place at the ANPC headquarters.

Piedone is suspected of warning a hotel for being targeted by checks. This is the International Hotel in Sinaia, owned by former Liberal Dan Radu Rușanu, former head of the Financial Supervisory Authority.
