The billionaire company raises rents in the block in Ochota. “What is this right?”

The amounts of rent in the block in Ochota are regulated by a private company, which is owned by a businessman and former politician Zbigniew Komorowski. Called the Polish “King of Yogurt”, the entrepreneur is the founder of, among others Known for Bakoma's dairy products and at the same time a billionaire, who has been on the lists of the richest Poles published by “Forbes” more than once. According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, some of the apartments in the block at Nowogrodzka now belong to BZK Nieruchomości – a company of daughter of Polskie Młyny, after she took over the state mills.
In the block, the rent for 1 sq m of apartment is PLN 25.55 (for comparison, the rent in municipal apartments belonging to the city is currently between PLN 8 and PLN 15). It is mainly retired in it – former employees of state mills who, in a sense, together with their apartments, were taken over by BZK Nieruchomości. They are resentful mainly that the fees are growing, and nothing happens in the block. It is neglected, not insulated (as the only one in the area), the staircase has not been painted in it for a long time.

“I've worked all my life in the Młynów office, and my husband was a professional. We got a job and a promise that we would be able to live here, but now for 35 sq m I pay PLN 1282 rent (including heating and water)” – says “Wyborcza” a resident of the building. “We feel left by the system. After the fall of the commune, the authorities sold a block with us and since then we have been at the grace, or rather a disgrace of a private entrepreneur with whom there is no discussion” – he adds.
Residents are afraid that the rent will grow endlessly. They are looking for a solution. They turned, among others to the authorities of the Ochota district. They were to complain many times for growing fees and no block repairs. The management of the Ochota District therefore asked BZK Nieruchomości to sell joint ownership of real estate. If the city was taken over, the rent could be reduced.
BZK Nieruchomości has not made contact despite sending several letters. The case returned in May this year. Still without response. It is not known why the company, belonging to the Polish billionaire, regularly raises the rent to the inhabitants of the block. When asked about this a few days ago by “Wyborcza”, she has not yet sent an answer.
