Moscow strengthens its terrestrial offenses and bombing of cities throughout Ukraine after the decision of the United States. In a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, Putin made it clear that he did not intend to listen to the calls of the US president to stop the war. Instead, he repeated that his goals remained the same as during the invasion: to restore Russian dominance over Ukraine and force the West to stop the support of Kyiv, the article says. The publication notes that immediately after a conversation with Trump, Putin took a large -scale air attack on Kyiv.
Putin’s strategy is aimed at breaking the ability and will of Ukraine to wage war, increasing pressure on its military and civilian population, while the most powerful supporter of the country fades into the background, the newspaper writes. Ukraine is now encountering in the summer of merciless attacks on the part of its larger neighbor, and Trump's efforts to reach the world have come to a dead end.
Recent events strengthen Russia's confidence that it can survive Ukraine and its supporters in the war for exhaustion. But the conquest of the territory may not be the most important goal for Russia at this stage of the war. As some analysts say, first of all, Putin wants to grind the troops and equipment of Ukraine and undermine support from the civilian population, as well as the West.
