After launching the largest drone attack on Kiev, the Kremlin says he sees no diplomatic solution in the Ukraine war

The Kremlin said on Friday that, at this moment, “it is not possible” to “reach” its goals in Diplomatic Ukraine, after launching the largest drone attack last night from the launch of the large-scale invasion in 2022.

This position comes one day after a telephone call without a result between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump and in the context in which the US president later discussed, during Friday, with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Zelenski.

Proof of the impasse in which the peace negotiations are located, despite their resumption in May, Donald Trump acknowledged that he had “no progress” during the discussion with Putin, AFP reports, quoted by News.ro. In fact, the third round of direct discussions between the Russians and the Ukrainians has not yet been announced, one month after the last meeting – too little fruit – which took place in Turkey.

Vladimir Putin continues to ask Ukraine to give him four regions, in addition to Crimea annexed in 2014, and to give up NATO accession. These conditions are unacceptable to Ukraine, which requires the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory.

The Russian president repeated to the American counterpart that Moscow “will not give up” the achievement of these goals. “As long as this does not seem possible, we will continue the special military operation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said on Friday.

The Kremlin claims to be attentive to Trump's statements

The Kremlin said on Friday that Russia is closely following all Donald Trump's statements, after the US president declared “very disappointed” by his latest call with Vladimir Putin about the Ukraine war.

Trump, who had confidently stated last week that Putin “seeks to resolve” the conflict, said after the phone call on Thursday that he does not think the Russian leader was trying to stop him.

Asked about these statements, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, told reporters: “Of course, we are very attentive to all the statements of President Trump.” But he did not approach Trump's implicit criticisms of Putin, Reuters notes.

Trump, who returned to the White House in January with the promise to quickly end the “blood bath” in Ukraine, acknowledged after the talk with Putin on Thursday: “I made no progress with him.”

Peskov said Putin told Trump that Russia would prefer to achieve its goals in Ukraine by political and diplomatic means, but in the meantime it will continue what the Kremlin calls the “special military operation.”

Attack-record: “I have never seen such a thing”

At the same time, the Russian army, which is in a position of force on the front, continues to bomb Ukraine. During the night, he launched 550 projectiles, of which 539 drones and the rest missiles, especially against the Kiev capital, according to the Ukrainian air forces.

“The night was white and brutal,” said Zelenski, announcing a balance of at least 23 injured.

According to the spokesman of the Ukrainian Army, Iuri Ignat, this was the “largest number” ever used in a single attack by Russia in 2022. Ukraine claims that it has succeeded in the neutralization of 478 devices out of the 550 launched by Russia.

Dozens of fires broke out as a result of these attacks, especially in Kiev. A building of the Polish embassy was damaged, according to Warsaw.

The Russian army has announced that it had hit a military aerodrome and an oil refinery during its night attack.

In the face of these massive and increasing Russian attacks, Germany has said that they are wearing “intense discussions” on the possible acquisition by Berlin of Patriot anti -aircraft systems in the United States, to give Kiev, after Donald Trump remained deaf to these calls. Washington announced earlier this week a break in the delivery to Ukraine of certain weapons and ammunition, including the Patriot system, an expensive and modern system.

The AFP journalists from Kiev saw, as during the previous attacks, the inhabitants of the capital rush to the subway to take refuge and spend the night there. “We spend all nights here,” explained Iulia Golovnina, 47 years old, who stressed that “here is quieter” than on the surface.

“I have never seen such a thing before. There have never been so many explosions. It was the most violent attack since I live here,” said Timur, a resident of the Capital.

In Russia, a person was killed during the night in a Ukrainian drone attack in the Rostov region (south), according to the regional governor. Ukraine said it hit an optical and mechanical factory that produces components for the Russian army.

Meanwhile, the Russian army, which advances on the front, claimed the capture of a new locality in eastern Ukraine on Friday, the village of Predciîne, located on the outskirts of the Ukrainian city KostiantiVka.

On the other hand, on Friday, the Russians and Ukrainians announced that they had a new exchange of prisoners, without specifying how many people were released in this operation.

Europeans try to fill the goal

In the face of apparent American withdrawal, Europeans continue to display their support for Kyiv.

The German government announced on Friday that it was considering the purchase of Patriot anti -aircraft defense systems, after the United States announced the suspension of the delivery of certain weapons to Kiev.

Also, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron will co -defend a meeting of countries next Thursday who want to help strengthen Ukraine's defense.

Volodimir Zelenski pleaded on Thursday in front of Europeans to “strengthen cooperation and coordination within the EU and NATO”, two organizations to which Ukraine aspires.
