The KMP Tun Pratama Jaya ferry sank half an hour after he left the Ketapan port in the east of Java.
The ferry, on board of which there were 53 passengers, 12 crew members and 22 vehicles, including 14 trucks, was sent to the Gilimanuk port on the island of Bali. The distance to it is 50 km.
Rescuers were looking for 32 people missing. Strong waves up to 2 meters high and the darkness made it difficult to search at night, but the representative of the rescue service said that the improvement of the weather and condition of the sea in the morning facilitated the rescuers with the task. Four bodies were discovered, and the weather and condition of the sea improved in the morning, which helped in search of survivors. According to the National Search and Rescue Agency, 29 people were currently saved.
According to the head of the police of the Banwang Rama Samtama Putra, many of the rescued were unconscious after they stayed in the water for several hours.
