“The hardest and most part-part blows do not come from the opposition at the moment. I come from the ruling parties and I was expecting it,” said the newspaper Cristian Tudor Popescu on Thursday, in a show on B1 TV, in the context of the package of tax measures announced by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. According to the journalist, “a series” of politicians responsible for creating the country's budget deficit can and have to be held accountable, but this lasts, and the priorities of the head of the Government are different at this time.

“Of course, a series of politicians who were in charge of what they have done, in particular, in the election year 2024, when they applied the” bribe for the nation “can be held. Sanction.

What did the CTP say:

  • Ilie Bolojan, at this moment, has only one job to do. He came out and informed us some things, one worse than the other. Bad, unpleasant, hard to endure.
Why is he doing this? It's not an official explanation. It is the explanation of common sense that he can see, to understand any citizen. Mr. Bolojan had a good political capital before becoming a prime minister. Had a good performance as interim president. Why to ruin his company now? This is how all the Romanian politicians judged in 35 years. None of them assumed what Mr. Bolojan was doing at the moment.
  • And these measures that arouse aggression, hostility against him as a person, first of all. I arouse strokes that come, as you can see, the hardest and most part of the strokes do not come from the opposition at the moment. I come from the ruling parties and I was expecting it. Because Mr. Câciu began to speak of the PSD, Mr. Cîțu from PNL, the gentleman from the USR, who tell us what Mr. Bolojan is wrong … Ponta who says how well they would have solved this situation.
  • Because they are liars by profession who cannot otherwise. They are used to lie to people to earn political capital.
  • If, for example, at this moment, Ilie Bolojean would say, well, dom'le, the unions came out, they said they make a general strike, very well, then let them ask. First, he has no place to give them. I think this can understand any citizen. No one at this moment, coming instead of the Bolojean Mr. Victoria Palace, has no place to make some money and give the population.
  • On the contrary, the very high danger is that the salaries and pensions can not be paid. What money? That's the question. What money? With the money, with the horseshoe from Georgescu's dead horses, sold in the West, with spring water from Romania sold through pipes in the West?
  • There is only one source, a single solution at the moment, accepted by international bodies, and harder than the European Union, is the free market.
  • It is about rating agencies, it is about investment companies, which, in the situation where Romania is now, want to see some measures with immediate effect, that is a month.
  • The rest, one thousand and one of theories can be made, how to make investments, not to increase taxes and so on.
All this can be discussed for at least six months from now. Next year and so on. Or, at this moment, some money from dry stone must be taken. That's what I hope to understand everyone

On Wednesday, in a press conference, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that the reduction of the excessive budget deficit will be done through three packages of measures that will be adopted successively in the coming months.

Bolojan said that it proposes three packages of measures, which are a mix of income increases, a mix of spending discounts and a mix of staggers and investment prioritizations.

The first such package will be adopted by assuming the responsibility of the Government in the Parliament, the next week.

Among the measures that will be part of this project are VAT reassemble on two thresholds, general share to 21% and a reduced share of 11% (drugs, food, horeca), increase in dividends from 10% to 16%, increased alcohol, tobacco, fuel by 10%, freezing the increase of pensions and salaries in 2026 Pay the contribution to health, tax on banks' profits and gamble gains.

All the measures announced will enter into force from August 1, 2025, except for the increase of dividends taxes that will be applied from January 1, 2026.

“We will relocate the VAT to two odds. Today we have three odds, of 5, 11 and 19%. The two quotas at which we propose the reassemble are 11%and 21%quota. At the reduced quota will remain, as until now, medicines, foods, public water and sewerage services, water for irrigation, It remains at this level. announced the new fical measures.

What did the head of the Government announce:

  • In fuels, in diesel, a scheme of partial restitution of this growth will operate to companies that provide transportation to Romania, so that this shock is partially mitigated. The excise duty for cigarettes will also increase.
  • We will propose and adopt a measure that will enter into force from January 1 to increase the dividend tax from 10% to 16%.
  • We will also tax the profits of banks. The banks in Romania have one of the best yields of capital in this part of Europe and I think they can contribute with higher amounts to the state budget revenues.
  • Also, we will overcome all the gambling winnings so that we collect at least 30% more of this category of revenues.
