It would seem that everything is closed, clean, neat. And then-one, you need to fly a pot, and someone crawls in a bank with cereal. Even if the products are tightly closed, the kitchen cabinets are removed, and the expiration date is normal – this does not save From food moths. It penetrates unnoticed: through packaging from a store, in a bag of flour or animal food. And when you notice the first moth, the caterpillars have long settled inside. So, it's time to start the kitchen strip.
- Start with an audit. Inspect each bag of cereals, nuts, spices and cookies. Check the seams, covers, corners – it is there that the mole hides cocoon and a web. Everything that is in doubt is better to throw away right away. No need to pour or shift – not to save infected.
- General cleaning. Wash the cabinets and shelves thoroughly with a solution of vinegar, lemon juice or boric acid. Particular attention – cracks and corners. After half an hour, rinse with clean water and wipe dry.
- So that the pest does not return, lay the slices of garlic, cinnamon sticks, bay leaf or bags of mint and lavender – smells that the mole does not tolerate in the cabinets.
And most importantly – prevention. Do not purchase cereals for the future, store everything in glass jars with a dense lid. New packages, if suddenly you have bought a lot, you can pump in the oven or put in the freezer at night – high and low temperatures kill larvae.
