Warm summers can prove a real challenge when it comes to family meal. The heat does not allow to approach any kind of food. For example, fatty foods can sabotage our body and cut our appetite. As the name says, it is a summer food that combines the flavor of pasta with a very pizza taste, without that dough that can fall hard on hot days.
A fresch, spicy and delicious salad
The recipe was born of the desire to cook a healthy and satisfying dinner for the whole family and even for the guest friends, without too much effort and without additional resources. I mean, as Becky confesses, we simply deal with what we have.
“It all started when we spent a long day with our son's best friend and his parents. After visiting the agricultural producers market, I went to a baseball match and finally stopped at the neighborhood pool. Somehow we had to take dinner on the terraces. eaten cold ”confesses Becky for “Washington Post”. Having many children, known for the food, the recipe creator had to adapt. Some demanded pizza, others pasta. Said and done.
He used a large bag of fussili that he had to mix with pizza ingredients. He opened the refrigerator and found a lot of ingredients. To spice the salad pasta he used cubes, dried tomatoes, but also fresh cherry tomatoes. From these ingredients he made a sauce. He saved the peppers in olive oil, along with dried tomatoes, plus tomato sauce. He spiced everything with basil and oregano. He poured everything over the pasta. He added the fresh cherry tomatoes, but also a consistent hand of Mozarella Biluțe. To make more “flesh” salad and for each mouthful as possible, we can use some tortellini. A bag is enough. We use either tortellini filled with meat or cheese. We boil them and add them to the salad, next to sauce and pasta. We mix everything well and the table is ready.

There are many variants for this pizza pasta salad. Its advantage is that we can juggle the ingredients. For example, we can rely on the leftovers from other meals. The pasta used are at the choice of the one who cooks. In order to get as close to the taste of pizza as possible, we must not forget the topping. It can be mozarella, simple cheese or even mold cheese. We can add olives, peppers and more.
