Spain has registered temperatures of 46 degrees Celsius; the wave of heat in Europe continues

A wave of heat continues to affect large parts of Europe, authorities in many countries issuing sanitary warnings against the background of high temperatures, notes the BBC.

Southern Spain is the most affected region, with temperatures of about 40 degrees Celsius recorded in Sevilla and the neighboring areas.

A new heat record for June, 46 degrees Celsius, was set on Saturday in the city of El Granado, according to the National Meteorological Service in Spain, which also said that this month is about to be the hottest June ever registered.

The warnings of the heat are in force in certain parts of Portugal, Italy and Croatia, but also in Spain, France, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

In Barcelona, ​​a woman died on Saturday, when the temperatures were very high, after finishing her sweeping tour. Local authorities are investigating her death.

In Italy, emergency departments from all over the country have reported an increase in insulation cases, which mainly affect “older people, cancer patients or homeless,” AFP Mario Guarino, vice -president of Italian Emergency Medicine Society, told the AFP News Agency.

Hospitals such as Ospedale Dei Colli in Naples have set up dedicated insulation rooms to accelerate access to vital treatments, such as immersion in cold water.

The city of Bologna, further north, has set up seven air -conditioned climatic shelters and drinking water, while Rome offered free access to the city pools for people over 70 years old.

A pharmacist from the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, told Reuters that, despite the fact that he told people “not to go out” in the most hot hours of the day, “I already had some cases of sunburn and burns.”

Severe heat also affected countries in the Western Balkans, where temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius.

Northern Macedonia is also hot, temperatures reach 42 degrees Celsius.

The heat is continued

In some areas, temperatures will continue to warm up until the middle of the week, temperatures will rise in France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Cowel alerts are in effect for certain parts of England, and London temperatures could reach 35 degrees Celsius on Monday.

Although it is difficult to make a connection between extreme individual weather events and climatic changes, heat waves are becoming more frequent and intense.

Scientists at World Weather Attribution, who analyze the influence of climatic changes on extreme weather phenomena, say that the heat waves in June with three consecutive days over 28 degrees Celsius are about 10 times more likely to appear during this period, compared to the pre -industrial period.
