PiS politicians are demanding to convene a secret session of the Sejm regarding the connections between Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty and Russia. According to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski from the Left, such a narrative proves that PiS has “no idea how to respond to the government's good decisions.”
The head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak, said during Friday's press conference that Czarzasty did not complete the security survey due to – as he assessed – the need to complete the section regarding relations with foreigners. – If a businesswoman from St. Petersburg, very deeply embedded in the Russian world, very deeply embedded in the establishment ruling Russia, and therefore undoubtedly connected with Putin, is a business partner of the Czarzasty family, what could Włodzimierz Czarzasty write in this survey? – Błaszczak asked.
Czarzasty's failure to complete the security survey, according to the head of the PiS club, indicates that there is a “fundamental problem regarding whether another person in the country can maintain relations with a Russian citizen who is active in Putin's circle.” – If he does not complete this survey, it means he is trying to sweep the matter under the carpet – he said.
Błaszczak added that due to doubts about Czarzasty's connections with Russia, the group demands that a closed session of the Sejm be convened during which these connections would be clarified. – The security of our homeland requires this – he said.
Former Prime Minister, MP Mateusz Morawiecki, noted that if Marshal Czarzasty had to complete a security questionnaire, he would be forced to describe his contacts with Svetlana Czestnych. – As a result, he probably would not have become a marshal if he had been properly verified by our services, like everyone else, – he said.
In turn, in the opinion of PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek, Czarzasta's attitude fits into the trend of the “European left”, characterized by pro-Russian and anti-Americanism.
Politicians were later asked by journalists whether the PiS club would file a motion to dismiss Czarzasty as marshal. – Everything depends on the majority – Błaszczak replied.

He proposed convening a secret session of the Sejm, but regarding the past of President Karol Nawrocki. – Mr. Chairman (Mariusz) Błaszczak and Mr. Chairman (Jarosław) Kaczyński should answer the question why they chose as a candidate, and later as president, a man who never revealed his past. This is what we want to talk about, he said.
According to Gawkowski, the narrative of PiS politicians regarding Czarzasty proves that “they have no idea how to respond to the government's good decisions.” – President Nawrocki should be the first to join the ranks of those who defend the second person in the country, Marshal Czarzasty – said the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
President Karol Nawrocki announced that one of the points of the meeting of the National Security Council convened for February 11 will be the issue of “actions taken by state authorities aimed at explaining all circumstances of Eastern social and business contacts” of Marshal Czarzasty.
When asked about the justification for this point, the head of the presidential Bureau of International Policy, Marcin Przydacz, said that “there is a lot of disturbing information in the media that Mr. Włodzimierz Czarzasty has contacts with Ms. Svetlana Czestnych, some businesswoman who is also connected somewhere with decision-making centers in Russia.” On Wednesday, Czarzasty put forward a demand that the agenda of the National Security Council be expanded to include information on President Nawrocki's contacts with the environment hooligans and people associated with organized crime. – I am clean, and you? Let's talk about it at the National Security Council, said the Speaker of the Sejm to Nawrocki.
Czarzasty also assured that all his contacts “were checked from beginning to end and there is no trace of any case.” Earlier on the same day, Jacek Dobrzyński, the spokesman for the Minister Coordinator of Special Services, announced that “the Speaker of the Sejm, who is subject to counterintelligence protection from the Polish special services,” has “access to information with the highest secrecy classification” and “the secret services have no reservations in this respect and strictly implement the provisions in force in this regard.”
PAP's interlocutors from the Chancellery of the Sejm claim that Czestnych is the co-author of books published by the publishing house run by Czarzasty, and when it wanted to sell shares in PDK Hotele, she bought them. Moreover, PAP sources claim that Czarzasty had a short conversation with Czestny only once. (PAP)
