Ursula von der Leyen: The Polish Presidency in the EU was difficult, but it was successful

– Your presidency was difficult, but you managed. You have completed work on 37 important legal acts and achieved negotiating fines in the case of the next 18. These are impressive numbers. You provided support from Ukraine through agreements on our 16 and 17. Packages of sanctions and new tariffs for Russian and Belarusian goods – said von der Leyen during the conference after the EU summit, turning to the prime minister Donald Tusk present at the conference.
She estimated that the Polish presidency was “efficient” and laid the foundations for the presidency of Denmark, which would start at the beginning of July.
She added that during the Polish presidency she also managed to quickly agree the Safe defense loan program. “Seventy -one days – it's a record and it's fantastic,” she emphasized.
She informed that ten Member States have already signaled the intention to take out loans within Safe and expected it to join more.
