After 37 years at the helm of the famous American magazine by Fashion Vogue, editor-in-chief Anna Wintour gives up the position, I write Corriere della Sera and Forbes.

Women's Wear Daily and Fashion Week Daily publications were the first to confirm that the long -term editor of the “Fashion Bible” withdraws from the leadership of the monthly magazine.

Wintour announced his decision to withdraw from the management of the Editorial operations of the US Vogue magazine on Wednesday morning, on June 25, in a meeting with employees.

Vogue will look for a new chief editor, while Wintour will remain as a global Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director of Vogue.

Long-lasting editor-in-law started his career in Vogue in 1988, taking over the position from Grace Mirabella. Wintour immediately began to reshape the magazine, and one of his first important movements entered the history of the magazine. The first cover (since November 1988) appeared on the model Michaela Bercu in a pair of $ 50 jeans (the first time the denim appeared on the Vogue cover) and in a $ 10,000. All the photos were taken by Peter Lindbergh.

“It was so different from the refined and studied first plans, typical for the vogue covers of that period, with makeup and big jewelry. He violated all the rules,” Wintour told Vogue in 2012.

Her revolutionary debut regarding the cover marked another major progress in the world of magazines, which was assigned: the introduction of stars on the cover.

Her reputation of a cold and distant person, who has accompanied her since then, inspired the character Miranda Priestly from “The Devil Wears Prada”, a book written by her former assistant Lauren Weisberger and later in a movie with actresses Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in the lead roles.
