Novosibirsk prosecutor's office requested a severe punishment for Vissarion

In Novosibirsk, a debate was held in the case against the leaders of the Vissarione sect, created in the Krasnoyarsk Territory more than 30 years ago.

Sergei Torop, Vadim Redkin and Vladimir Vedernikov is accused of committing crimes directed against the procedure for the creation and activities of religious organizations encroaching on the personality and rights of citizens by applying violence and the provision of psychological impact to them, which caused harm to the health of various severity (part 1 of article 239 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, paragraphs “a”, “b” h. 3 art.

“As a result of the unlawful actions of the defendants in the period since 1991 (Torop and Redkin), as well as from January 24, 2001 (Vedernikov) and until their detention on 09.22.2020, 16, the victims were caused by moral damage, 6 persons – serious harm to health and 1 person were harmful to the health of medium severity. In addition, Vedernikov is accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud), ”the prosecutor's office explained.

The prosecutor during the debate invited the court to be sentenced: Sergey Torop – 14 years in prison, Vadim Redkin – 13 years old, and Vladimir Vedernikov – 14.5 years of imprisonment, as well as a fine in the amount of the salary preceding the commission of the crime. They were offered to serve their sentences to a maximum security colony.

In addition, the prosecutor suggested satisfying civil lawsuits filed by the victims. They indicate the amounts of compensation for non -pecuniary damage in the amount of 5 to 20 million rubles. Another lawsuit filed a prosecutor’s office in the interests of the Russian Federation in the amount of more than 5 million rubles.

The prosecutor proposed to maintain the arrest imposed on the property of the defendants and the funds of another person before the execution of the court sentence in terms of civil lawsuits.
