“At the end of 2024, as much as 872.6 thousand people with a fixed right to a pension legally worked. From the beginning of this decade, the number of working pensioners has been growing by a few percent every year, and those who decide to move a pension outside the age of 60/65 – only by 1 percent per year” – this is a given social insurance institution, which “Rzeczpospolita asked”.

“People prefer a sparrow in a handful than a pigeon on the roof. This is happening for several reasons: the need for current money, the lack of full confidence in the pension system and the fact that we do not wonder that in 10-20 years, when we really are not able to work due to health and well -being, we will stay lower with retirement than if we delay the moment of its collection. – says prof. Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak from SGH.

“This is natural” – adds prof. Jacek Męcina from the University of Warsaw.

“People are counting their money now. In addition, if they work full -time, they have a commission, they hope that they will additionally increase their pension. They do not think about whether and how much they would gain if they put the decision to retire for several years” – says prof. Męcina. (PAP)
