The head of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Iran must negotiate directly from the USA

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated on Monday in Brussels that Iran must take direct talks with the United States after American attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

“Iran says that he wants to negotiate only with Europe and we consider it a good sign, but we also say that this is not enough. We want the United States to be involved,” Wadephul told journalists before the meeting of foreign ministers of EU countries.

He also assessed that the world would not accept Iran armed with atomic weapons, and in conversations with Tehran, the issue of limiting the threat from ballistic missiles should also be addressed.

“Europeans, including Germany, told Iran on March 10 that he must be ready for direct negotiations with the USA, and the last US attacks may be a consequence of the lack of success in these conversations,” he said.

The minister also added that the American administration officially confirmed that the change in the regime in Iran is not the goal of the United States.

“Iran must understand that he has crossed the red line through the Uranus enrichment program. (…) Iran must start negotiations and reliably, clearly withdraw from his atomic and rocket plans,” said Wadephul.
