The great property of the Polish church was revealed. Almost half a billion zlotys in real estate

Thousands of hectares, luxury hotels, tenements, apartments. The property of the diocese is worth half a billion zlotys. Wirtualna Polska reveals on Monday what real estate they have Polish dioceses and what property bishops manage.

Polish dioceses have a property worth at least PLN 495 million – the portal reports on the basis of its query.

“We do not claim that this is a full list of diocese's assets – we do not have the right tools to create such a statement. But with all responsibility we can say: Polish dioceses do not have less than we show” – write WP journalists.

According to the findings of the Polish Diocese portal, they have, among others over 3,500 hectares of arable land, pastures and wastelandswhose value was estimated at nearly PLN 241 million.

They also included Recreation real estate – the plots on which they operate hotels, guesthouses, holiday houses and retreat centers Worth – according to WP – over PLN 56 million. The portal also took into account the typically city real estate: Flats, houses, tenements and built -up plotswhose value he estimated at around PLN 198 million.

As the authors emphasized, The estimates did not include real estate, which is used by church assistance institutionsamong others: Homes of a single mother, windows of life, eatery, lodging rooms, hospice, care centers, orphanages, clinics, and community clubs.

In fact, the property of the Church in Poland is much greater, and the report of Wirtualna Polska focuses only on the property of the diocese and archdiocese. I skip real estate and land belonging, among others to parish or religious orders, i.e. churches, chapels, cemeteries. All because – as the chief portal and the author of the material Paweł Kapusta admits – there are no adequate tools to reveal the entire material wealth of the Church.
