Russia is modernizing nuclear weapons bases, including in the Królewiec region – according to satellite photos of the American company Planet Labs, published on Monday by the Swedish public television SVT.

The presented comparison of photographs of the same object in the Królewiec region from 2016-2018 with those from 2025 shows that one of the three underground bunkers was modernized and secured with a triple fence. A cable used to power or communication was also brought, and a mysterious building nearby was renovated.

As noted, this is the same type of structure that was captured in the pictures in the Russian base in the area of ​​the city of Osipowicze in Belarus, where nuclear weapons are stored; New investments were also observed there.

SVT television resembles the statement of the head of Polish diplomacy Radosław Sikorski, who stated that Russia in the Królewiec region located 100 tactical nuclear heads.

The Russian enclave, with which Poland and Lithuania bordered, is located 270 km from the island of Gotland belonging to Sweden.

The changes observed in the pictures taken at different times are also shown by Russian investments in the nuclear weapon base in the islands Nowa Earth in the Arctic Sea, where according to experts the most important tests and tests take place. In addition, 50 bunkers were built on the Kolski Peninsula for storing battle missiles for submarines, as well as loading waterfront.

The Minister of Defense of Sweden Pal Jonson assured SVT that his country is aware of the problem and has been following the development of the situation for a long time. “It is both about Russian investments in the potential of nuclear weapons and the development of a new doctrine,” Jonson emphasized. He added that Russia from the beginning of the full -scale invasion to Ukraine in 2022 at various political levels threatened to use this type of weapon 200 times.
