A NATO official told Reuters on Sunday that the North Atlantic Alliance “closely follows the situation” after US President Donald Trump said the US forces have attacked the three main nuclear sites of Iran.

The identity of the NATO official who made these statements was not revealed by Reuters.

Asked about the reaction of the alliance to these attacks and about a possible impact on the NATO non-combat mission in the neighboring Iraq, focused on training and the development of institutional capacities of this state, the official said: “Of course, we closely follow the situation.”

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged Iran to return to the negotiation table and said that stability in the region remains a priority.

“Iran's nuclear program is a serious threat to international security. Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, and the US have taken measures to alleviate this threat,” Starmer said in a statement.

The US hit three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fortow, Natanz and Isfahan, President Donald Trump announced on Saturday night.

American B-2 bombers were used in attack. Trump described the US military blows on Iranian nuclear installations as a “spectacular military success” and added that the sites were “completely and totally destroyed.” Trump warned Iran that the US could attack additional targets if Iran doesn't make peace.
