The Buss family agreed to sell a majority package of shares in Los Angeles Lakers to businessman Marek Walter. This is the largest transaction in the NBA basketball history -according to people familiar with the terms of the contract, the value of the team was valued at $ 10 billion.

Under the agreement, Jeani Buss will keep a minority participation in the team, of which she has been the owner since her family bought the club in 1979 for $ 67.5 million.
Sales would mean a new NBA valuer record.
According to the latest Official NBA Team Valuations ranking, the Lakers are in third place in the league in terms of value with $ 7 billion.
“Mark Walter concludes a contract for the acquisition of additional shares in the NBA Los Angeles Lakers team, of which he has been a shareholder since 2021,” said Walter's representative in a statement for CNBC.
Lakers did not answer the request for comment.
Walter is the CEO and co -founder of Guggenheim Partners. He is already the majority owner of MLB Los Angeles Dodgers, WNBA Sparks and the future Formula 1 Cadillac team. He is also the owner of Professional Women's Hockey League.
There was a Lakers legend, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who is also a Walter's business partner, praised the transaction in the post on X.
“Good work for my sister Jeani Buss for concluding an amazing contract and choosing the right person who will continue the Lakers heritage and the tradition of winning. Mark Walter is the best choice and will be the best guardian of the Lakers brand,” wrote Johnson.
In March, the Boston Celtics club was sold for a record -breaking amount of $ 6.1 billion to the director of private capital Bill Chisholm.
Lakers finished the 2025 season in the third place in the Western Conference with a balance of matches 50-32.
Since the takeover of the team by the Buss family, Lakers have won 11 NBA titles, the most of all NBA teams during this period. (PAP Biznes)
