Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that his country is “very concerned” that the current conflict between Israel and Iran “can become uncontrollable” and that the entire region can slip “in a precipice”, AFP reports.

“The actions of Israel ignoring international law and international rules have caused a sudden tension in the Middle East, and China is also very concerned about the fact that the situation can become uncontrollable,” Wang said in a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, informed the Beijing Ministry.

In another telephone discussion held on Wednesday, with Oman's Foreign Minister, Wang said the two countries “cannot stay with the cross arms and let the region slip into an unknown gap,” the Foreign Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the discussion took place at the request of the head of diplomacy in Oman, Sayyid Bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi.

On Tuesday, China accused US President Donald Trump of “pouring gas on fire” in the conflict between Israel and Iran, and urged Chinese citizens to leave these two countries, and President XI Jinping called all the parties to work “as quickly as possible” on a disassembly.

“Pouring gas over the fire, prolonging threats and exerting pressure will not contribute to the situation, but only intensify the tensions and expand the conflict,” reacted during a regular Guo Jiakun briefing, a Chinese Foreign Affairs spokesman.

“China urges all the parties targeted, especially the countries that exert a particular influence on Israel, to take responsibilities and take immediate measures to flatten the tensions and prevent the extension and propagation of the conflict,” he stressed.

Israel launched on Friday the largest air campaign in its history against Iran, after declaring that it has come to the conclusion that the Islamic Republic is about to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran denies that he would seek to obtain nuclear weapons.
