“He should have concluded the agreement, I had an excellent understanding for them … In the end, they chose not to accept it, and now they regret it,” Trump said on Wednesday, June 18th. He also added that Iranian officials “want to come to the White House,” notes The Guardian.
The statements were made before a meeting on the evacuation of American citizens in Israel, in the context of intensifying the Middle East conflict.
Trump also commented on his public's position: “My supporters do not want to see Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon.”
However, American information agencies and international experts have stated that Iran does not currently develop a nuclear weapon. According to the Associated Press, three top officials of the US Armament Control Association urged the US government to choose nuclear diplomacy and non -proliferation to the detriment of a military conflict. They warned that an attack cannot destroy the nuclear knowledge of Iran, but could cause the regime to withdraw from the nuclear non -proliferation treaty.
On a diplomatic level, European officials will have a meeting with Iran representatives on Friday, June 20, in Geneva, in Geneva to discuss the relaunch of nuclear negotiations, says Reuters. Diplomatic sources from Germany have confirmed that foreign ministers from Germany, France and the United Kingdom, along with the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, will participate in discussions.
In a video message addressed to Israeli citizens, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Donald Trump for the support offered by calling him “A great friend of Israel”. He said he was in constant contact with the American leader and added that “They had a warm conversation” the previous evening.
“I want to thank President Trump for the support given in the defense of the sky of Israel.” Netanyahu said.
