A lion killed a 59-year-old tourist, in a luxury tent complex, in an isolated region in northwestern Namibia, the police announced, AFP reports
Lion's attack was deadly
The victim was in the campsite with other tourists in this tourist complex.
The man was attacked after leaving the tent to go to the toilet, a local spokesman, Hamunyela, told a local publication.
Other tourists from the camp managed to get the lion, but the man was already dead.
Police ”He goes to the scene and a thorough investigation will be carried out ”a spokesman, Elifas Kuwinga announced, writes News.
Lei live in isolated areas in the northwest of Namibia, where the mountains with sand dunes meet.
In 2023, it was estimated that there were approximated 60 lei adults and about 12 lion chicks.
But their number has decreased lately, due to a decrease in prey, following a drought and conflicts with man.
