In Achinsk, a sentence was passed on the driver whose fault a person died in an accident. This was reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The accident occurred on May 22, 2025 on the road towards the village of Sosnovoye Ozero. As the court found, a man driving a serviceable car was driving at a speed of about 60 km/h, but lost control and drove into the oncoming lane. There his car collided with another car.
The driver of the oncoming car did not have time to avoid the collision. He died on the spot from his injuries.
The Achinsk City Court found the motorist guilty of violating traffic rules, which negligently resulted in the death of a person (Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The man was sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison to be served in a penal colony. He was also banned from driving for the same period.
In addition, the court partially satisfied the claims of the victims.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
