Night trains are registering a spectacular return in Europe, but many travelers are still hesitant because of the idea of dividing a cushion with foreigners. Although many nocturnal services offer single or two people, they are often expensive and tickets are running out quickly. Now, a new company launches sleeping trains with completely private rooms – and promises that tickets will not be more expensive than the price of a flight.
“We want to make the night trains an essential part of European travel”transmits the company, according to Euronews.
NOX, a start-up based in Berlin, says that his mission is to provide a real alternative to short-distance flights in Europe.
Since 2027, the company intends to operate its first night trains at European level with booths designed for one or two passengers.
“Sleeping while the train carries you through Europe is a great concept. But at present, people have to share the cabins with strangers, the beds are tight and is often more expensive than the plane trip. We want to change this and make the night trains an essential part of European travel.”says Constant Thibault, co-founder of NOX.
Very long beds and panoramic windows
The constant Thibault, which is known as “Simply Railway” by the more than half a million social media followers, has over 400 night train trips around the world.
He says that this experience has had a crucial influence on the design of new traverse.
There will be three categories of rooms: a simple loft for a passenger, with a bed at the top level and a chair and a table; a double loft with a double bed at the top level and two chairs and a table; And a double vista with beds with light entry, of which the lower one turns into the chair.

All three categories of rooms will have beds two meters long and enough space to stand and store your luggage. Some cabins will also provide panoramic windows.
The co -founder Janek Smalla says that the design of the rooms allows them to fit more people on their trains than the traditional operators can.
“This, together with a strict emphasis on standardization and operational excellence, will allow us to offer accessible rates on over 35 European routes“, he adds.
The goal is to provide links with the night train between 100 European cities by 2035. Among them are Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Budapest and Rome.
The company wants the network to become a viable alternative to short -distance flights, stating that it aims to “It offers ticket prices as low as air tariffs. ”
Interested travelers can already explore the schedules and prices planned on the NOX website. The single rooms will start from 79 euros, and the double rooms from 149 euros.
There will be a food and drink service on board. Travelers can register for free in the Early Bird Club to keep up to date, to receive low rates and to have quick access to reservations.
