The amendments were made to Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “The illegal turnover of payments.” In accordance with them, those who themselves perform unlawful operations using electronic wallets and plastic cards, as well as those who transfer electronic means of payment to third parties, will be held accountable. They may threaten them up to six years in prison With a fine up to a million rubles.
Also, up to three years of imprisonment will threaten the client of the bank, who for the sake of earnings gave access to a bank account to another person or performed operations at his direction.
It is with the assistance of drops that fraudsters manage to receive the money of deceived citizens, without “lighting up” their personal data. Dropper becomes one of the links of the chain leading to the attacker himself.
Add, only last week 116 residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory transferred more than 24 million rubles to fraudsters.
Russian banks counteract the dropper, analyzing the transactions of their customers and, noticing suspicious activity, block accounts.
“All Drops data are transferred to the Central Bank and fall into the database that is regularly sent to banks to protect their customers. The suspect in the legalization of money received by criminal means can be suspended transactions for several days, ”explains Konstantin Bezimatereny, regional director of PSB in Krasnoyarsk.
It is worthwhile if you are promised money for using a card or account, as well as if you ask you to issue a card or invoice to your name or transfer access to an existing account to a third party. At the same time, imaginary employers communicate through unofficial communication channels – social networks, messengers or anonymous chats, the expert warns.
“Do not transfer your cards, details, access to accounts to anyone. You should also not trust the promises of easy earnings and assurances of scammers that this is “without risk” and “legally”. If you receive proposals to issue a card, account, crypto -core “for investment” or “business”, save this correspondence, contact the bank and law enforcement agencies (this can be done anonymously through the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) and on the hotline of the Bank of Russia. ”
