Mysterious GPS disturbances on the Polish coast. Falling drones and many unknowns

The first to alert the owners of small unmanned aerial vehicles when it turned out that their devices were losing control. One of the operators of the drone mentioned that he started from around the Hel Cypl, he reached a ceiling of about 120 m, after which he was lost to the transmitter without warning, and the machine fell straight into the water. Problems were also affected by drivers who had the location incorrectly – for example on the Puck Bay.

Possible causes of the falls of drones and signal interference
Specialists admit that actions consisting of drowning or falsifying the signal may have different sources, and The GPS/GNSS signal, captured by drones or telephones, is quite easy to disrupt. According to prof. dr. hab. Andrzej Felski from the Naval Academy is played by the small powers of transmitters that the GPS satellites use. Although the system was created for military purposes, civilian users have been using the weaker and susceptible version for many years.
The scientist indicates that currently the most likely scenario is the so -called Spoofing. “We do not quite know how to translate it in Polish. I explain it to students as a fraud, as impersonation. Someone gives radio signals that look like perfect, best quality signals from satellites for my receiver. Only that they contain false information” – he comments for the station.
Disturbing from Russia? Various hypotheses
Where do the disturbances come from? Suspicions fall, among others for Russia.
– We observe these disturbances. They are observed over the area of the Baltic Sea also in our allies in the NATO countries – both in the Baltic States and Nordic countries, so we react. These activities are related, according to our sources, with the activities of the Russian Federation, with sabotage actions also – Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Tuesday.
Disturbing anomalies may also result from NATO exercises currently conducted in the Baltic Sea.
“As for the fears of the aircraft passenger, I assure you – where there is a man and where there is a professional above all, he has ways to deal with it – says Prof. Felski in an interview with TVN24.
