A boring session with a happy ending. Energy screws records on the Polish stock exchange

Tuesday's session ran for most of the day without a clear direction, but in the last hours of trade the advantage gained demand. Energy turned out to be the sector of the day – MWIG40 pierced for the first time in history the level of 8000 points, and a large discount after the presentation of the results was experienced by Żabka.


WIG20 gained 0.62% on Tuesday and finished the session at 2,849.22 points, improving the bull market record by about 7 points. WIG increased by 0.73% and reached 104 280.78 points, determining the new historic peak. MWIG40 managed the best among the leading WSE indexes, which he first covered the level of 8000 points, increasing by 1.51%. SWIG80 ended the session by a 0.32%discount.
The value of turnover on the Warsaw Stock Exchange exceeded PLN 2.13 billion, of which PLN 1.66 billion concerned companies from the WIG20 index. The highest value of turnover took place at CCC shares (PLN 217 million), PKO BP (PLN 180 million) and Orlen (PLN 178 million).


In the world, the event of the day was the reading of inflation in the United States, which turned out to be the lowest in 4 years, but for the fiftieth time over a row above the 2 % Fed target. The base inflationary pressure in the US also remains too high, but the markets adopted the result with satisfaction and 17:00 S&PC and NASDAQ gained 0.80% and 1.50%, respectively.
Base markets in Europe were doing less well on Tuesday than American stock exchanges. When the session ended in Warsaw, the German DAX gained 0.21%and the French CAC40 even more modest 0.16%.
The Tuesday session at the WSE belonged to energy companies. Their notes could be helped by the declaration of the Minister of State Asset and the announcement of the first dividend in 8 years from the State Energy Company.
During the conference on the occasion of the first year of maps of maps, Minister Jakub Jaworowski announced that the ministry is planning to invest about PLN 600 billion in the energy sector in the next 10 years.
The WIG20 index was reigned by PGE, which gained 6.89%. Since the beginning of the year, the company's quotations have already grown by over 46%. The WIG-Energia sector index gained as much as 6.01%during the session, set a new record of 3604 points.
8.64% gained the ENEI course, which in the stock exchange announcement at the end of the Monday session that its management will recommend the payment of PLN 264.9 million from profit from profit for 2024, which gives PLN 0.5 per share.
Also after the final bell on Monday, the results were presented by Tauron, whose shares went up by 6.35%. According to estimates, the company's net profit in the first quarter amounted to PLN 909.7 million, piercing the expectations of analysts.
Energy shares, which gained 1.85%, managed the great four energy companies from the WSE.
In addition to PGE, Santander's quotations (+2.81%), LPP (+1.85%) and Pekao (+1.71%) were also doing well among the companies from PGE, for which the previous session was the day of the dividend cut.
Żabka's actions that lost 2.05%have been the most discounted in the Blue Chip index. The company presented the results for the first quarter of 2025. Revenues year -on -year increased, but were lower than the analysts expected, and at the net level the company recorded PLN 125 million loss.
In MWIG40, the first violin was played on Tuesday of Newag, which gained 11.94%, ahead of Enea and Tauron in terms of growth. The company disposed the solid net profit for the first quarter of 2025, and its management recommended the payment of PLN 1.50 dividends per share.
Rainbow Tours have gained 5.20%. BM Bank Pekao analysts in the report of May 12 raised the target price for the company's shares up to PLN 230 from PLN 200 earlier, maintaining the recommendation “Buy”.
In the index of medium-sized companies, the Azoty Group (-2.94%) shares lost the most, whose management recommended covering the net loss for the last year (PLN 386 million) from spare capital resulting from the issue of shares above their nominal value.
