FCSB has doubled its European share »but still has an impossible mission to catch the UCL group: only 7 free places

FCSB is preparing for a new European season and hopes to have the results of the previous campaign. The qualification to the optimal Europa League made the red-blue team double the coefficient: from 10,500, to 22,500. But it is almost impossible for him to take a place in the main competition.

The champion of Romania started last season in the UCL preliminaries, being a series head only in the first round. In round 2 he dropped with Maccabi Tel Aviv, the Israeli being the series. FCSB eliminated Maccabi and reached the 3rd Prague round, being defeated.
Then followed the qualification in the Europa League group and the presence in the European spring. Match in the play-off with PAOK and elimination in the eighth, in front of Lyon. And the results obtained by the FCSB in the recent season are beginning to be seen this season.
Coefficient doubled for FCSB
The Romanian champion has a much more coefficient now. Last year it started with 10,500, now it is at 22,500. More than double. The first consequence? FCSB will be the series head and in the 2 round of the UEFA Champions League preliminaries, which means he will have an easier opponent. And if it is eliminated in the UCL round 3, it will be a series head in the Europa League play-off.
Moreover, FCSB will be better in the ballot boxes. Last season of Europa League, the red-blue team was in line, in the 4th ballot box. Only 8 teams had a weaker coefficient. Now, on a simulation made on the scenario in which the best -rated teams qualify in the group, FCSB will be in the third ballot box. If he arrives in the UCL group, FCSB would have the weakest coefficient, being the last in the 4th ballot box.
Only 7 places left in the Champions League
In the group's phase, 36 teams will start. But at this moment 29 of these places are occupied. Which means that FCSB has to fight for one of the 7 places left available.
Which means that FCSB will have an extremely complicated mission in qualifying in the group. At the preliminary start (the first rounds are on July 8 and 9, respectively July 15 and 16) will be 53 teams, one of them to be FCSB. Among the formations that will fight for the 7 positions left in UCL are much better teams Celtic, Benfica, FC Copenhagen, Red Star, Feyenoord or Basel.
