CFR Călaturi denies the information that would be in danger of bankruptcy or would stop the activity

CFR Călatori National Transport Company transmitted on Monday, June 16, that the information published in the public space according to which would be a bankruptcy danger or that they would stop the activity are false.

“As a result of the problems claimed by the company that were presented publicly in the press release on June 14, today there will be several meetings in which, together with CFR Călaturi, representatives of the other relevant authorities will participate.
The management of CFR Călaturi is convinced that the ways will be found to be ensured the financial resources necessary to avoid affecting the ongoing activity of the company at this time. Of course, difficult situations have existed over time, but each time the ways have been identified in which they are overcome. It is not an opinion, it is a certainty highlighted through the railway transport activity always.
Regarding certain approaches currently existing in the public space, we mention that there is no question of stopping the company's activity or the bankruptcy of CFR Călaturi. Saturday, June 14, CFR Călaturi advertise “subcompensation and decrease in income forecast for the year 2025 which endanger the public transport of passengers ”.
The information is included in an official letter sent to the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, by the general director of the company, Traian Preoteasa.
The document, also signed by the financial director, Aida Hanganu, warns that, in the absence of additional financing, there is the imminent risk of stopping railway traffic and trains, especially in the unpaid sections. “In the absence of fast measures, Romania risks paralyzing the railway traffic circulation”, Warns the company's directors.
CFR Călaturi claimed that the compensation allocated for public passenger transport for 2025 is “only“1.739 billion lei, amount”insufficient to cover the costs of operating the company”.
The company claimed that this compensation represents only 80% of the amount allocated for 2024, while the revenues from the passenger transport are diminished as a result of an emergency ordinance, and the expenses are at least at the level of 2024.
CFR Călaturi also claimed that it receives a monthly compensation of only 132.14 million lei, which says it is insufficient to cover monthly expenses, last year this being 180 million lei.
