The President of Romania came today to visit the Republic of Moldova, the first after winning the elections. On this occasion, the hotnews correspondence in the Republic of Moldova, Oxana Bodnar, spoke with several locals in the center of Chisinau to find out what expectations they have from Nicușor Dan. “To take care of the citizens with double citizenship, because the people here gave their vote for the Lord,” he was one of the answers received.

• Of the over 158,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship who voted in the second round of the presidential elections, 88% chose Nicușor Dan.

A few hours before the visit of the Romanian president in Bucharest, on the streets on his route, between Chisinau Airport and the presidency headquarters, on Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, there were more police than usual. However, the lives of the locals unfolded at its usual pace. There was quite a lot of crowds on the central streets of the city.

Near the presidency headquarters, a few hours before Nicușor Dan arrived in Chisinau, some locals had the flags of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. I went to them and asked them if they came especially for this event.

“Yes. Romania is the country that supports us. We are all Romanian. I am Romanian. We have citizenship (no-Romanian) not only to walk in Europe, but because we are Romanians. We want in Europe,” said a woman who was wrapped in the flag of Romania.

They (no- Romanians) are our part, our brothers ”, added another woman who holds the flags of the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

“Very good that he was a candidate! We go with smart people before,” added another woman in the group.

I also talked to other people on the street. Many did not know that Nicușor Dan was visited in Chisinau. “What is the expectations from the President of Romania?” I asked another woman on the street.

“To take care of the citizens who double citizenship, because the people here have voted for the Lord. To continue to help us that we are still a poor country, in which we all expect European integration, but who knows,” the woman said.

I also discussed a Russian speaker, who transmitted that the main desire for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova is peace and tranquility.
