On November 28, it was reported that the sanctioned Kairos (which flies the Gambian flag) was attacked while sailing from Egypt to the Russian port of Novorossiysk to load.
The agency notes that there is a storm in the area of the incident, which complicates the rescue operation.
The ship did not make contact for two days after it was damaged in the Black Sea, but later sent a signal requesting evacuation, the country's Ministry of Transport and Communications said. Kairos has anchored one nautical mile offshore and has two tugboats ready to go to sea if the weather improves.
