Radu Burnete, future presidential counselor, about the negotiations from Cotroceni: “I am still in progress. The process is serious and applied”

Radu Burnete, who will take over the position of presidential counselor on July 1, the appointment decree is already signed, announces, on Monday, that the discussions between the parties that could form the future coalition will continue on Tuesday, as the approach is “serious and applied”.

“After a week of technical consultations at the Cotroceni Palace regarding the solutions to reduce the budget deficit, the discussions between the parties that could form the future ruling coalition are still in progress. The process is a serious and applied one, which is why no final decisions have yet been made“, Radu Burnete wrote on Monday night.
According to him, “President Nicuşor Dan stressed that priority is to reduce state spending, combat waste and increase efficiency in collecting income.”
“The increase of taxes remains only a solution of the last instance. The negotiations between the parties will continue tomorrow, with the participation of the political leaders, in order to materialize a clearer set of measures to reduce the deficit“, Burnete said.
President Nicuşor Dan had, on Monday, at the Cotroceni Palace, consultations with the leaders of the parties that could form the future coalition – PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR – and minorities to agree to the eco -measures to be taken in the short and medium term in order to reduce the deficit.
Radu Burnete, the executive director of the Concordia Employers Confederation, accepted Nicușor Dan's proposal to be his presidential adviser for economic and social issues. The appointment decree was published on May 29 and enters into force on July 1.
Burnete says that, until the entry into force of the appointment decree – on June 1 – it will have a short transition period from Concordia to the Presidential Administration where Dragoș Anastasiu remains honorary counselor until June 30.
