The Ukrainian air forces brought down a Russian Multirol Multirol Fighting plane on Saturday morning, the Ukrainian army announced, Reuters reports.
“This morning, on June 7, 2025, following a successful Air Force operation in the direction of Kursk, a Russian SU-35 fighter aircraft has been shot down,” the Ukrainian army announced.
The Ukrainian army did not provide more details, and the Russian forces have not yet commented on the attack.
On social networks, images showed a flame on a field, taken over by the Ukrainian press.
The aircraft's breaking comes after Ukraine's security agency, SBU, led a large drone attack on over 40 Russian military aircraft last week, damage or destroying dozens of TU-95 and TU-22 bombers, which Russia uses to launch long-range missiles on Ukraine.
Su-35, a fourth generation multi-generation fighter plane, is one of the most advanced aircraft in Russia, designed for air superiority and precision attacks, according to Defense Blog.
The SU-35 is a close derivative of the Soviet Hunting Plane Su-27 Flanker and has been completely modernized with engines, sensors, airplanes, new quality armaments and fuselage.
