
“If your cabbage grows poorly, looks weak and sluggish, feed it with chalk. Chalk is a natural source of calcium, which is especially important for cabbage, as it contributes to the formation of strong heads, it increases resistance to diseases,” the gardener noted.
She advised to water the cabbage with a solution of chalk twice a season. The first top dressing must be introduced in June, and the second – a few weeks before cutting heads.
The gardener noted that chalk should be bought without additives in garden or pet stores.
“We need no lime, but the most ordinary chalk. It is inexpensive,” the blogger noted.
Preparation of the solution
- In 10 liters of water, dissolve 1 tbsp. chalk.
- Mix thoroughly until completely dissolved.
- Leave the mixture for two or three hours
Using top dressing
- Water the cabbage under the root with a solution, avoiding falling on the leaves.
- Pour 0.5 liters under small bushes, and under adults 1.5 or even 2 l. It is best to make top dressing in the evening after rain or after preliminary watering.
According to the gardener, thanks to this simple, but effective top dressing, cabbage will grow healthy and tie large heads of heads that will not crack.
