We deserve from the Germans

One of the elements of Karol Nawrocki's election campaign were war reparations from Germany. At the beginning of May, he stated that Poland should receive from our western neighbor PLN 6 trillion PLN 200 billion in compensation for the crimes of World War II. This amount comes from the “report on losses suffered by Poland as a result of Germany's aggression”, which in 2022 was prepared by a PiS MP, Arkadiusz Mularczyk.

“We just deserve this money,” said the politician. In turn, in an interview with “Super Express” he said: – Reparations refer to historical, historical justice, but also to our future, and I will fight for them from the first day of the presidency.
Reparations and the fight for “German gestures”
According to Witold Jurasz, receiving reparations is unreal, which does not mean, however, that Poland is not a kind of compensation from Germany.
– This does not mean that we will calculate some absurd amounts 80 years after the war. It seems to me that some kind of German gestures that would be significant could be won – said the expert.
In his opinion, these gestures could be financial or even reinforcing, such as two patriot batteries or two submarines. – We deserve something from the Germans. Not even for World War II, but for consistently ignoring the basic interests of Poland's security, because the Germans did exactly this for many years towards Russia – he said.

The journalist also pointed out that The Polish authorities should find a “golden mean between anti-German paranoia, PiS” and “without reflection on Germany.” “Only that we will not find,” he concluded, arguing that Polish politicians “are not able to get along with basic matters.”
