The US refuses to ensure air defense to support the forces that the United Kingdom and France plan to deploy in post -war Ukraine – the Reuters agency said on Wednesday, citing “people familiar with the case”.

European allies, after talking to American counterparts, came to the conclusion that the current US administration would not guarantee them, which they sought for the “coalition of volunteers” – says the agency, reminding that the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer considered American support to be necessary to stop Russia before breaking the future agreement on a suspension of weapons.
In February, Starmer emphasized that “US security guarantee is the only way to effectively discourage Russia from re -attacking Ukraine.”
Bloomberg previously informed that Great Britain and France tried to convince President Donald Trump to support branches stationed in post -war Ukraine with the help of air force, as well as intelligence assistance and borders monitoring. Both countries still hope that the US will provide intelligence information, as well as supervise the border between Ukraine and Russia – said Bloomberg. Some European officials also hope that Trump will intervene if the British and French troops stationed in Ukraine were attacked by Russia, but they think that they will not commit to it in writing.
Currently, European governments are inclined to the view that the combination of Ukrainian forces, allied training, European troops and aircraft stationed on the Eastern Flanka NATO and patrols in the Black Sea is enough – one of the interlocutors told the agency.
“We appreciate the work that allies, especially France and Great Britain, together with Germany and others to build a coalition of volunteers,” told reporters in Brussels on Wednesday to the US ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker.
Of the 30 coalition participants, which also includes countries from outside Europe (Canada, Australia, Japan and New Zealand), 15 offered strength, including aircraft, war ships and other military equipment – the agency reported in April. Bloomberg emphasized, however, that the number of countries that clearly committed their own armed forces is one -digit. (PAP)
