The customs stopped a trailer on which was a luxury limousine on A8, near Rosenheim, the Land of Bavaria, southern Germany. The Romanian driver had to pay import fees of 10,814 euros for the car brought from Switzerland, according to Ştiridiaspora. The incident took place on the A8 highway in the direction of Salzburg (Austria), near Bergen, in Rosenheim district.

The driver, carrying the luxury car on a trailer, said he was traveling with the vehicle from Switzerland to Romania.

“When the vehicle is brought from Switzerland to the European Union, customs duties and sales import fees are charged. As the driver could not present a customs declaration, the immediate payment of import fees was required totaling 10,815 euros”said Marion Derscherl, spokesman for the main customs office in Rosenheim.

In order to ensure the import taxes, which the driver could not pay immediately, the customs officers from the Trauntein control unit initially seized the vehicle, according to impulse.

A criminal procedure for tax evasion was initiated against the driver of the van.
