“Emmanuel Macron sang “La Bohème”, accompanied on drums by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian. State dinner in Yerevan. Music, as a sign of friendship”, sent the French journalist Agnès Vahramian, the author of the post on X.
The choice of the song was not accidental. Born on May 22, 1924, in Paris, Charles Aznavour was a French singer, songwriter and actor of Armenian descent. He was known for his tenor voice with distinctive vibrato: clear and sonorous in the high register, but grave and deep in the low notes.
In a career spanning more than 70 years as a performer and composer, he recorded more than 1,200 songs in several languages. He has also written or co-written over 1,000 songs for himself and other artists.
Aznavour is considered one of the greatest songwriters in history and an iconic figure of 20th century pop culture. The artist died on October 1, 2018, at the age of 94.
Emmanuel Macron was on Monday, May 4, at the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Yerevan, Armenia. He supported the initiative for the event to take place in this country.
The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, also participated in the summit, this being the first presence of a country outside of Europe in the meeting, which brings together more than 48 states.
The Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinian, promotes a diversification policy that gradually brings the country closer to the European space. His Civil Contract party is gearing up for parliamentary elections in June and is aiming for a clear victory to continue peace talks with Azerbaijan.
However, he faces three opposition formations considered closer to Moscow.
