You would change the future of work! New opportunities for the Tech Industry in Romania

Generative artificial intelligence (GENAI) is no longer a dream of the future, but a reality that already shapes the global and local economy. According to a cognizing -oxford study, by 2032, over 90% of the jobs will be influenced by AI, with about 9% of employees risking to be replaced. In areas such as accounting, marketing or customer support, between 30% and 40% of activities can be assisted or optimized by intelligent systems.

Alin Turcu, Data & Ai Engineering Director, Cognizantone of the largest IT companies present in the country, performs an analysis of the opportunities that open for the local tech industry, in the context of accelerated development and adoption of generative artificial intelligence in many fields of activity.

Accelerated Genai Adoption in Romania, on all levels of work

The impact of GENAI extends beyond office work, reaching physical trades. Production operators and logistics workers already use AI to detect defects, optimization of routes and increase safety. This automation should not be regarded as a risk of disappearance of jobs, but as a redefinition of them: employees will collaborate with AI, will supervise intelligent systems and acquire new skills to remain competitive.

In Romania, digitalization accelerates the adoption of GENAI: 60% of IT specialists, marketing and customer support say that repetitive tasks consume less time today, and 34.9% regularly use platforms such as Chatgpt for daily tasks (according to an eJobs survey, published in June 2024). Familiarity is at high levels – 94% of employees know AI, almost half anticipates that in 2025, about 30% of their activities will be taken over by intelligent systems, and millennials (35–44 years) are noted for advanced skills (62%) and trust in the benefits of technology (90% of them).

And the top management in Romania has confidence in the Genai power to contribute to the development of the business environment, by increasing productivity and competitiveness. 53% of Romanian general directors believe that Genai will increase competition and profound business models in the next three years, according to a PWC Romania study. At the same time, 61% of them estimate that technological innovation will deeply transform their business model during this period.

Integrated platforms are needed to direct different components of AI

At present, however, there is a lot of fragmentation at the level of AI solutions, which generate complexity and slow down large -scale adoption. To overcome these obstacles, organizations need integrated platforms which will orchestrate different components in a unitary and safe flow, ensuring coherence and maximizing the added value.

An example of such an integrated platform is neuroai, developed by cognizant in collaboration with Nvidia. It offers autonomous agents to make real -time decisions and AI models that optimize processes, by analyzing real -time data. For example, in retail, neuroai can analyze instant sales trends to adjust marketing strategies, and in production, monitors data on the production line to prevent malfunctions.

The functionality “Digital Twins” builds virtual replicas of critical processes and equipment, allowing parallel simulations of dozens of scenarios and preventing faults.

By combining specialized autonomous agents – for example, for infrastructure monitoring, predictive analysis and generation of risk reports – Neuroai offers an integrated solution, according to ISO 42001: 2023, ensuring transparency and security. Platforms such as neuroai help companies integrate effective technology.

Cognizant has recently made the source code of the Neuro® AI Multi-agent accelerator open source for academic use and research, facilitating global collaboration in the development of AI Multi-agent systems.

AI can be a competitive advantage for the Romanian economy

Such solutions open new perspectives for the IT industry in Romania. Our country has a dynamic IT market and a talented, young, prepared for change. But in order to take advantage of this opportunity, companies must provide continuous training in digital skills, encourage upskilling and create environments that promote human partnership. Investments are needed in recalification and access to modern technologies, cultivating partnerships with integrated solutions suppliers and developing an intelligent infrastructure to take advantage of GENAI benefits.

The future of work will be modeled by the collaboration between man and AI. Advanced digital education programs will consolidate Romania's position as a emerging Hub Tech and will form professionals capable of innovating in partnership with AI, and these initiatives will strengthen the competitive advantage of the local economy.

Organizations that invest strategically invest in digital skills and technology can transform the transition to an economy based on AI into a sustainable competitive advantage, contributing to an innovative tech economy, prepared for Europe's digital future.
