In Istanbul, talks of the delegation of Ukraine and Russia ended on Monday regarding the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine; The meeting lasted about an hour – informed the AFP agency, citing Turkish diplomatic sources.

It was the second round of negotiations of Moscow and Kiev, in which Türkiye is the mediator.

The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrij Jermak announced that the Ukrainian side gave the Russian side a list with the names of Ukrainian children who were abducted to Russia, and Kiev expects them to return home.

“Today, during negotiations in Istanbul, the Ukrainian side officially handed over the Russian list a list of Ukrainian children who must be returned,” Jermak wrote on a telegram.

“These are hundreds of children who Russia illegally deported, forcibly resettled or detained on temporarily occupied territories. In March, at a meeting in Dżudda (in Saudi Arabia), we confirmed our readiness to a 30 -day suspension of weapons with a humanitarian element” – he reminded.

He noted that the return of Ukrainian children is an integral part of the agreement on a fair and lasting peace. “We are waiting for an answer. The ball is on the side of Russia. Words are not important, but deeds,” said Jermak.

Before the meeting in Istanbul, the authorities in Kiev reported that they proposed that the road to a durable and just peace would begin with a 30-day suspension of weapons, exchange of all prisoners of war, held by each of the parties to the war lasting since 2014, as well as the return of children, abducted from the areas currently occupied by Russia. Ukraine also demands that the President Volodymyr Zełenski and the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, President Putin, a direct meeting. (PAP)
