Moreover, snow lying on the car may cause an accident if, for example, it falls from the vehicle, obstructing the visibility of other road users.
Drivers who ignore the obligation to clear snow from their car must face the consequences. In accordance with applicable regulations, a fine for driving a snow-covered vehicle may be up to PLN 3,000. If the driver drives a car slightly covered with snow, the fine may amount to several hundred zlotys. However, if he only clears snow, e.g. a small part of the windshield, the fine may be much higher.

During the winter, some drivers choose to run the engine while clearing snow in a parking lot to speed up the process. However, although this seems to be an effective solution, it is a prohibited practice due to exhaust emissions. Leaving the engine running while parking in a built-up area may result in a fine of PLN 100. If the driver leaves the vehicle, he or she may face an additional PLN 50 fine. The fine may amount to PLN 300 if the running engine causes other nuisance, e.g. noise.
Ultimately, it is better to plan your morning to allow time to safely prepare your vehicle for driving. Otherwise, in addition to the risk of an accident, you are exposed to financial penalties for both the car not clearing snow and the engine running while clearing snow.
