Romanians paid for nothing 18 million euros in Transelectrica last year for an unprocessed service, says the Association of Providers

The Romanian consumers paid in invoices 18 million euros to Transelectrica, last year, in the account of the energy transport tariffs, although the electricity produced by the prosumers does not circulate through the high voltage network managed by this company, says the Association of Swingers and Energy Communities.
It is a quantity of 1.2 TWh of electricity, as much as last year's production means prosumers. This energy only circulates through the low and medium voltage network, managed by distributors, and does not reach the high voltage, so Transelectrica had no right to collect this amount of money, according to the association.
According to ANRE regulations, the company perceived all consumers the following rates for electricity provided locally by prosumers:
- TG (network introduction rate): ~ 4 lei/mwh
- TL (network extraction rate): ~ 27.72 lei/mwh
- TSS (system services): ~ 12.84 lei/mwh
- Average transport rate: 31.67 lei/MWH
“If in 2024 the prosumers produced 1.2 TWh, in 2025 we estimate that this figure will exceed 2 TWh, while the tariffs practiced by Transelectrica increased by about 8% in 2025, which will lead to undue revenues of over 35 million euros. Transelectrica has not moved a finger.”
In other EU countries, no energy transport rates are perceived by prosumators
The Association of prosumers asks ANRE to modify the regulations and to introduce an annual adjustment mechanism of these rates according to the amount of energy produced and consumed locally.
At the same time, ANRE should except explicitly from the payment of transport rates that do not enter the high voltage network.
At the same time, the amounts collected abusively should be returned or compensated with the following year tariffs.
In several European countries, including Italy, France, Germany, Spain and Belgium, no energy transport rates for electricity produced by prosumers are not charged.
