The German government is preparing a law that will introduce 10 percent. Taxes for digital platforms, using the content published by the media – Politico said on Thursday.

Culture Minister Wolfram Weimer said in an interview with the magazine “Stern” that the solution will include such the main American digital platforms such as Alphabet/Google and Meta. “We believe that the tax rate of 10 % is moderate and justified.”
According to Politico, the introduction of digital tax could be put on a collision course from the USA if Berlin's decision was considered a retaliation move imposed by the American administration on, among others European Union countries. Dutch, emphasized the portal, particularly hit the German economy based on exports and struggling with difficulties.
“First of all, I invited Google management and important industry representatives to the Chancellor's Office for conversations to examine alternatives, such as voluntary commitments,” said Weimer, a member of the CDU of the CDU of Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “At the same time we are preparing a bill.”
The minister said that Germany is very mild for American technology companies in terms of taxes. “He doesn't have to stay that way,” Merz said, adding that he doesn't want to “escalate this conflict. I want us to solve it together.” (PAP)
