Russia conducts cybernetic espionage towards Denmark as part of preparation for a possible war with NATO countries – warned on Friday in the newspaper “Politiken” Danish Military Intelligence Service FE.

In a statement for a leading Danish daily, the agency emphasized that “state Russian hacker groups probably lead cyber -espionage against entities in critical infrastructure to prepare to conduct destructive cyber attacks in the event of escalation of war or crisis.”
According to the adviser of the Danish National Center for Defense Technology, Jeppego Teglskov Jacobsen, the problem concerns unauthorized access to information systems of the bank or energy sector. As the expert explains, Russia can use this type of access to sabotage in Denmark when it invasion of one of the Baltic countries. This would be intended to hinder Danish military assistance.
As Politiken writes, A warning of the Danish military intelligence F was issued as a result of cooperation with intelligence services of other European countries and the USA. The source of danger is the special cyber -b about the Russian intelligence service GRU.
The newspaper refers to a joint report of the Western services, in which the activities of the GRU cybernetic unit under the name “26165” were revealed. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, this Troll Army has tried to infiltrate IT systems of dozens of western companies and government institutions, hiding under the nicknames of hackers: APT28, Fancy Bear, Forest Blizzard and Bluedelta.
The analysis explained that the goals were not accidentally involved in the support of Ukraine and offices from the logistics, transport and technology industry. The “26165” unit was to access around 10,000 Monitoring cameras near border crossings, military installations and railway stations. In this way, you could follow the transport of weapons and goods to Ukraine.
In January, the Danish government cyber security center was warned by the water sector, i.e. Waterworks, before hacker attacks. The risk of their occurrence was first defined as “very high”. According to the announcement issued at that time, the assessment was influenced by the burglary in December 2024 of the pro-Russian group of hackers to the IT system of the water and sewage company in one of the Danish municipalities. As a result of the software failure, a pipe cracked and temporarily cut off residents from water supply. (PAP)
