The case of Zbigniew Ziobro as Minister of Justice during the PiS government
The most serious allegations concern abuses in the spending of funds from the Justice Fund, which during Ziobro's times had a multi-billion budget intended to help crime victims. Investigators are investigating, among others: commissioning projects to friendly organizations, irregularities in tenders and possible use of the fund for political purposes.
In parallel, investigations are ongoing into other matters related to the period in which Ziobro supervised the prosecutor's office and the court system. There are doubts about putting pressure on judges, interfering in proceedings and creating structures conducive to the politicization of the justice system. In turn, parliamentary committees examine, among others: functioning of the so-called a group of haters and the possible use of secret services for party purposes.

The political situation was also influenced by the fact that Ziobro has been abroad for a long time, explaining it by the need for treatment. His absence and the lack of clear declarations regarding his return strengthen speculations about an attempt to avoid responsibility. The PiS authorities maintain that the former minister was a victim of political retaliation, but the opposition emphasizes that it is now possible to fully account for his actions. The case has become one of the symbolic elements of the debate on the rule of law and the responsibility of the authorities in Poland.

Government voters convinced of asylum for Zbigniew Ziobro in Hungary. PiS voters too
The results are even more decisive among the electorate of the current ruling coalition. As much as 96 percent its voters believe that Ziobro will remain in Hungary (where the politician is supposed to stay). Only 1 percent indicates the possibility of his return, a 3 percent no opinion.
