Christopher Walters, an American filmmaker who documents the Russia's war against Ukraine, was injured after a balcony fell over it in the center of Kiev, the director said in a video published on Thursday, according to The Kyiv Independent.
Walters posted a message on Instagram, which appears with visible bruises on the face. On the background, the collapsed balcony can be seen.
“While rockets and drones fly, we are injured by balconies because of someone's irresponsibility!”, The director said in the post.
The incident took place in the Podilskyi district of Kiev, in front of the entrance to a building, said Timur Tkachenko, the head of the City Military Administration.
Tkachenko, who is in a public conflict with the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, stressed that the accident “was not a hostile attack, but a consequence of many years of inactivity.”
Walters also said he wants to carry out an investigation to determine the causes of the incident and to prevent it. In the post, the American filmmaker labeled the Klitschko mayor.
Tkachenko added that he will have a “serious discussion” with the district management companies and that the new head of the Podilskyi administration to keep in touch with the victim and inspect the damage.
