President Nicușor Dan confirmed on Thursday that he was invited to the US and said the most important thing is that the strategic partnership between Romania and the US will continue.

The head of state confirmed the invitation made by Donald Trump before his meeting with businessmen scheduled in Cotroceni at 9 o'clock, according to TVR Info.

“Yes, I confirm”said Dan, asked by journalists if he was invited to go to the US during the conversation with Trump.

Nicușor Dan also spoke about the strategic partnership and welcomed the appointment of a new US ambassador to Bucharest

“The most important thing, after this discussion, is that our partnership will continue. This is the most important thing (…) the fact that he was called an ambassador is a very good thing, I thanked the President (Trump, no) for this”he said.

Nicușor Dan officially confirmed on Wednesday that he had a TRUP phone call.

“I was honored to have a discussion with President Donald Trump and thank him for the congratulatory message he had.

In the conversation I reaffirmed my constant commitment to the deepening of the strategic partnership between our countries, in all areas of common interest. I look forward to a close cooperation with President Trump and his administration ”he transmitted on Facebook.
